Research Paper Competition
This is a call for entries for the RVTTI UNEVOC Center Project Research Paper Award. The best paper will be presented at the 6th RVTTI International Conference scheduled for 29 June-1 July, 2017 in Eldoret, Kenya. Winner(s) will receive a cash award of $ 1000.
The First Place winning paper is to be presented in a 20-minute Plenary Session at the Symposium. Authors of the other two finalist papers will be acknowledged at the session. All papers submitted to the contest will also be programmed for the conference presentations at suitable tracks and authors are encouraged to attend.
Qualifications & Eligibility
• There is no age limit.
• Authors from any country in Africa are eligible.
• The submitting author must be the first author.
• The presenter must be the first author at the designated track session
• Multiple submissions are accepted.
The papers will be evaluated by panel of judges who are experts in the respective areas. The panel of judges will evaluate each paper using the best version sent by author(s) and the best three papers will be peer reviewed. The selected papers will then be finally evaluated and will be based on quality of paper and strict adherence to guidelines given by the reviewers. It is expected that the evaluation process is completed by the end of May 2017. The winner will be required to make an oral presentation at the 6th RVTTI International Conference at a plenary session and will be given 15 minutes for making his/her presentations and 5 minutes to answer questions from the audience.
Award: The Award will be presented at the plenary session on Friday, 30 June, 2017 at the Conference Room.
Publications: The best three papers (finalists) will be published in Africa Journal of TVET Vol. 3. All papers submitted should not have been published elsewhere.
Language: All papers must be submitted and presented in English.
If human subjects are involved in the research, proper informed consent must have been obtained and approval of appropriate institutional review committees obtained, where applicable.
All proprietary rights to the research work are reserved to the author(s), including future right to publish any and all aspects of the research.
Acknowledgement of receipt of the submission will be sent within 3 working days. Winners will be notified in adequate time to attend the conference.
The authors (or their sponsors) commit themselves to:
1. Cater for all costs for developing their paper, and travel and upkeep during the presentations and exhibition.
2. Take responsibility for providing the RVTTI UNEVOC Center Award Team with any information necessary for the evaluation of their paper.
3. Ensure that all information provided is true, accurate, current and not misleading or likely to mislead. If this is not adhered to, the candidate will be eliminated or be obliged to reimburse the reward.
Candidates authorize RVTTI-UNEVOC Award to use non-confidential information as provided by the candidate during the registration process for communication purposes.
The applicants explicitly authorize the Innovation Award team to use and disseminate, for the purpose of the RVTTI UNEVOC Center Project Research Paper Award and RVTTI International Conferences, in Kenya and worldwide, without any financial remuneration, their surnames, given names and images in any format and regardless of the type of media.
The evaluation members sign a confidentiality agreement. They are required to keep confidential any information provided by the candidates in regards to the paper award, except for the information made public, for communication purposes.
