In order to equip the Guidance and Counselling team with essential Counseling skills, the office of the Performance Contracting in collaboration with the administration organized a Five day training.  The facilitators of the training were Dr. Rogers Songole ,
Clinical Psychologist, Senior Lecturer in Mental health/ Chairman, Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors, Dr. Mary Mahugu,
Ag. Senior students counselor Students welfare department Moi University,Eldoret Secretary Kenya Guidance, Counselling and Psychology Association, Eldoret Chapter and Dr Scholastic Adeli. Senior Lecturer of Counselling Psychology. With a Speciality in Trauma and Rehabilitation Psychology in the service of Moi University. Dr Adeli is also the Director YATA life coaching Services.

The team was taken through knowledge that will aid them in effectively counseling clients, integrating Counseling theories in counseling, how to establish a therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and the client, common psychological challenges encountered by adolescents in this stage of development as well as Understanding and respecting  rights and responsibility of All parties involved in a counseling relationship.. The Training was aimed at achieving the following rationale:-

  • to build capacity of a pool of counsellors to offer basic counselling
  • to strengthen counselling services across all department to ensure many students access quality counselling services
  • to produce counsellors with knowledge, skills and competencies to provide basic counselling services to students and staffs
